I have been making this homemade white buttercream type frosting for many years and it always reminds me of that perfect wedding cake.
I made a white cake mix from Pillsbury and followed the directions on the box for a 13×9” pan. If you make a round, two-layer cake, I would double the frosting recipe.
After the cake has completely cooled, prepare the frosting and spread it over the cake. I store any leftovers in the refrigerator.

Wedding Cake Frosting
Make the perfect wedding cake at home with this wedding cake frosting and a boxed white cake mix.
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- 3-4 cups powdered sugar
- 3-4 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 tbsp vanilla
Cream butter on low.
Add in powdered sugar and heavy cream, alternating a cup of the powdered sugar and a tablespoon of the heavy cream at a time.
Beat 3 minutes on medium-high speed.
Spread the frosting over your cake. I used a Pillsbury white cake mix.
