Baked ravioli… who doesn’t like pasta smothered in cheese?

If you just don’t want to deal with dinner, this baked ravioli is the perfect dish for you. Throw everything into the dish and let it bake. It’s as easy as that.

I love cooking but there are some nights where I just don’t feel like spending a bunch of time in the kitchen. Having a list of quick recipes that I can pull from in these times is a life saver. I also like this recipe because you use frozen ravioli. You can keep it in your freezer until that day hits where you need a quick meal idea.

I always make my own sauce these days but I went ahead and added this recipe with jarred sauce. I’m sure if you’re not in the mood to cook, you don’t want to be making a sauce. On nights like this, I will just take a can of tomato sauce and add garlic and herbs. I don’t get super fancy.

We usually buy frozen cheese ravioli but you can also do meat filled ravioli. You can also get sauce with meat or mushrooms in it to add more flavor. I like to keep this recipe pretty basic but you can go all out if you have the time.

I layer the top with mozzarella cheese. Again, you could use other types of cheese but that is the one we prefer. I sprinkle on some herbs, like oregano and basil, for an extra pop of color.

Some other items you can add to this recipe to change it up are: veggies, peppers, different cheeses, sausage, ground beef, or meatballs.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen ravioli
  • 1 jar pasta sauce
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese
  • herbs optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°.

  2. Coat a 9×13 pan with cooking spray.

  3. Pour a thin layer of pasta sauce on the bottom of the pan to lightly cover the bottom.

  4. Layer the ravioli in a single layer over the sauce. It will probably be a tight squeeze. You can also make multiple layers with the ravioli and sauce (alternating) if you have enough.

  5. Add the remaining pasta sauce over the ravioli and sprinkle on the mozzarella cheese. *I add some basil and oregano on top of the cheese for a little contrasting color but this is completely optional.

  6. Bake for 30 minutes covered. Uncover and bake another 15 minutes. The cheese should be brown and bubbling when done.

  7. Cool for 5 minutes and then serve.
