Boozy Grapes are the perfect snack by the pool, appetizer at your next party, or dessert for any occasion.

I came across these boozy grapes at a wedding many years ago. They were soooo good. Everyone was talking about how much they liked them so I was determined to figure out a recipe.

It was pretty simple really. They called them champagne grapes at the venue. So I quickly figured out if you soak the grapes in champagne and then toss in sugar, you have a delicious snack.

I started experimenting with other types of liquor and found that you can marinate them in different ones to make different tasting grapes.

I’ve used brandy, champagne, and wine. Champagne is my favorite and wine comes in a close second. The brandy was too strong for my liking but could be great if you like that type of liquor.

I usually let them marinate in the liquor overnight but you could wait up to two days to take them out. The key is to not sugar them until serving time.

They are the perfect summer time treat, especially to serve with friends. I always get compliments when I take them to parties. It’s nice having a easy snack that doesn’t take much energy to prepare.

Boozy Grapes are for adults 🙂 If kids will be around when you are serving these, they will grab and eat them. I usually make a sign to let everyone know they contain alcohol. You can also skip the liquor marinating part and just coat some in sugar for the younger crowd.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Marinating 1 day

Ingredients

  • 1 bag grapes red or green
  • 1 bottle liquor
  • 2 tbsp sugar plus or minus

Instructions

  1. Take the grapes off of the vine, clean them by running under water or using a fruit cleaning solution, and place them in a bowl.
  2. Pour enough liquor in the bowl to cover the grapes completely. I prefer wine or champagne but any liquor will work. Marinate covered in the fridge for 24 hours or up to 2 days.
  3. Right before serving, drain the liquor off of the grapes and coat in a thin layer of sugar. Toss the grapes to coat evenly. Tip: You don’t have to waste the alcohol. Drain into a cup or bowl and drink 🙂
  4. Serve as soon as possible after sugaring.

Recipe Notes

  • If kids will be present at your place of serving these grapes, it’s good to make a sign or indication that they contain liquor.  You could also make a separate batch for the kids by tossing them in sugar only, obviously skipping on the alcohol.
