French toast sticks on baking tray

Freezer French toast sticks are a quick breakfast for kids and adults.

My family was loving some frozen french toast sticks from Sam’s Club but we haven’t been able to get them anymore.

Homemade is better anyways, right?

You can use any french toast recipe you want but I included one below that we like to use. The sticks we got at Sam’s Club had a cinnamon and sugar coating. You could add this to the french toast sticks before freezing but I was too lazy to go through that messy process.

The best thing about this recipe is that you can make so many french toast sticks at one time. This is nice since we go through them so quick when I make them. You could definetely make multiple trays at once.

I have really been trying to make bulk/freezer meals. It’s nice on those days where I don’t feel like cooking. We can grab something quick without ordering pizza or ordering out.

Check out another great freezer recipe below. It’s a cheesy hashbrown casserole that we take camping with us a lot. Freezing it makes transporting it so easy. You can also make them at home to pull out for a quick side dish.

I use Wilton Jelly Roll pans for a lot of my baking. I love the lip around the edge so liquids don’t spill.

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf Texas toast any thick cut bread is best
  • 4 ea eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Cut each piece of bread into "sticks" by making 3 equal, vertical cuts. They should be about 1" wide. Set aside.

  3. In a small bowl, combine the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Whisk until combined.

  4. Spray a large baking sheet (or 2 smaller) with cooking spray. Place the cut bread, wet ingredients in bowl, and baking sheet all close to each other.

  5. Coat each stick of bread into the wet ingredients, allow excess to drip, and place on baking sheet. Repeat until all sticks are coated completely.

  6. Bake for 25 minutes, flipping each stick around the half way point to get both sides browned. French toast sticks will be soft but not mushy. If they are not firmed up, put them in the oven for a few more minutes.

  7. Let cool on baking sheet. You can eat these immediately or freeze. If freezing, once cooled completely, put the tray as is in the freezer. This is to start the freezing process of the french toast sticks so they won't clump together later. After 1.5 hours, take the sticks off the baking sheet, put them in a freezer bag or container, and place back in the freezer. To reheat, microwave for 1.5 minutes until warmed through. Serve with syrup.
