Homemade Salsa

Easy homemade salsa made in a blender.  Mild or spicy with a hint of sweetness.

Servings 6 cups

Ingredients

  • 3 cans stewed tomatoes
  • 1 small can tomato paste
  • 1 ea green bell pepper
  • 2 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar can use more or less to taste
  • 2-5 ea jalapenos can use more or less to taste

Instructions

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender.

  2. Pulse blend until peppers are chopped into small pieces and all ingredients are combined.

Recipe Notes

  • I recommend putting the sugar and jalapenos in a little at a time.  Pulse blend after each addition and then taste to see if it's to your liking.
  • Jalapenos can vary.  One might be really spicy, while another is more mild.  I always recommend adding them in slowly and tasting to make sure it doesn't get too spicy.  This also means that each time you make the recipe, the amount of jalapenos needed may vary.
  • To make 4 cups instead of 6:  use 2 cans of stewed tomatoes, 3/4 small can of tomato paste, 3/4 green bell pepper, 1 Tbsp. garlic, 1-4 jalapenos, and 2 Tbsp. brown sugar.
