Ground Beef Crunchwrap Supreme

Crunchwrap Supremes at home just like Taco Bell.

Who’s hungry for some Taco Bell?  How about Taco Bell at home?  My husband loves their food but his stomach doesn’t reciprocate that love.  So, I went out on a quest to make some of his favorites at home.  The crunchwrap supreme is super easy to make.  If you can make taco meat, you can make these!

Tortilla Size Matters

The one thing that kind of went wrong was the tortilla size.  You’ll notice mine didn’t cover all of the middle.  It almost worked but that leads me to my next mishap.  I actually made these twice for this blog post.  The first time I made them with tomatoes and took pictures.  The tortilla doesn’t go as far as what is pictured here because that extra layer of tomatoes make it even shorter.  I lost the pictures though so I don’t have one to show the difference.  Once I make these again, and they will surely be made again, I will update with new pictures.  The life of a crazy mom and blogger!!!  How does my family all hate tomatoes?  I love them and hope the ones I’m trying to grow myself turn out.  I got two plants to have two chances at success lol

Ok, back to the crunchwrap recipe.

All you’re going to do is make taco meat like normal (cook ground beef, add taco seasoning). Then layer everything and cook to seal the tortilla shut.  The layers are: tortilla, nacho cheese, taco meat, tostada shell, sour cream, lettuce, tomato.  If you’re crazy like me, I could never find the tostada shells, but sure enough, they are right there with the tortillas.

If you read my post on beef enchiladas, I talked about making taco meat and freezing it.  It’s great for quickly making recipes like this.  If you have kids that prepare their own lunches over summer break, this is perfect for them to be able to make their own tacos.  You can cook a big batch of ground beef, add in taco seasoning, and then portion out into freezer bags or containers.  All it takes is a little heating up in the microwave or on the stove and you’re ready to go.

If you noticed the delicious corn cake in the picture, we loooooove that stuff.  To keep this a quick meal, I used ChiChi’s packaged sweet corn cake mix.  You just add butter, water, and creamed corn.  I find it at Kroger locally.  Target never seems to carry it.


Crunchwrap Supreme

CopyCat recipe of Taco Bell's Crunchwrap Supreme.  It's basically a hard taco all wrapped up in a soft taco.

Servings 4 people


  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 4 ea tortillas- biggest you can get Burrito size will work but not close all of the way.
  • 4 ea tostada shells
  • 1 can nacho cheese
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1.5 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1-2 ea diced tomatoes


  1. Brown the ground beef.  Add in taco seasoning and water according to package instructions.  

  2. Place a tortilla on a flat surface.  Spread the nacho cheese in the center of the tortilla as big as the tostada shell.  Spread a layer of seasoned ground beef on top of the nacho cheese.

  3. Place a tostada shell on the ground beef.  Spread a thin layer of sour cream on the shell.  Add enough lettuce to cover the sour cream.  

  4. Add the tomatoes on top of the lettuce.  To fold up the crunchwrap, start at the bottom and fold up to the middle.  Hold your fold in place and grab the tortilla to the left.  Fold it up to the middle.  Hold both folds and keep doing this until the whole thing is folded all the way around.

  5. Add cooking spray to a skillet on medium heat.  Lay the crunchwrap seam side down in the pan and let it cook for about 2 minutes.  Flip over and cook for another 2 minutes.

  6. Repeat the layering, folding, and cooking process until all 4 crunchwraps are done.  Serve immediately.

Recipe Notes

  • These crunchwraps are very flexible with ingredients.  Chicken instead of ground beef.  More of a layer, less of a layer, or leave out a layer completely.  It will still all be good but I think there is more flavor when all components are there.
  • I listed the recipe for 4 people.  You can easily change it to more or less people.  I would say you will need another pound of hamburger after 5 wraps.  
  • These are really filling.  I couldn't eat a whole one.
  • I listed a "package" of taco seasoning.  I know some people do not use packages, like myself.  If you have homemade or canned taco seasoning, use what the package says or how you usually make taco meat.
