Caramel Apple Dessert Pizzas are fun to make with kids and even adults will enjoy them.
I love recipes where kids can make their own creations. My son loves putting his own toppings on pizza and cupcakes.
Letting kids make their own dessert at school or birthday parties is a fun activity and they can eat their treat when they are done.
I got this caramel apple dessert pizza idea from a party where I had fruit pizza. My love of apples and caramel means i’m always trying to come up with new fall recipes. I thought adding the two ideas together would make a delicious dessert.
Plus, I simplified the recipe so there isn’t as much work. You can complete these in as little as 5 minutes.
If you’re not familiar with fruit pizza, you take a roll of sugar cookie dough and spread it out on a round pizza pan. After it is baked, you top with a cream cheese mixture and various fruits.
This fun, kids fall version uses premade sugar cookies from the store. No messing with spreading out sugar cookie dough or making cookies. I buy premade caramel dip so there’s no melting caramels. The hardest part about this recipe is cutting up the apples and figuring out the toppings you want to put on.
Apples can be chopped in little pieces or sliced. I prefer the pieces because it’s easier to eat that way. I use granny smith apples but any kind will work.
Now for the toppings.
Caramel apple dessert pizzas don’t have to be plain. Topping options can include: nuts, sprinkles, chocolate chips, streusel, drizzled white chocolate, marshmallows, candy pieces, ice cream, or anything else your kids can think of.
Caramel Apple Dessert Pizzas
Caramel Apple Dessert Pizzas are a super easy fall dessert that the kids will love making themselves. Have more fun by piling on different topping variations.
Ingredients
- 1 ea sugar cookie 1 per person
- 1 ea apple tops approx. 4 cookies
- 1 tub caramel apple dip
- toppings optional
Instructions
-
Cut apple(s) into slices, small chunks, or however you prefer. Set aside. Remember that the apples will brown if set out too long so I recommend cutting them as close to serving time as possible.
-
Spread a spoonful of caramel over each entire cookie.
-
Top with the apples and any other toppings you prefer. Topping options include: nuts, streusel, chocolate chips, white chocolate drizzle, marshmallows, candy, etc.
-
Serve immediately.
Recipe Notes
- You can also make one big cookie like the original fruit pizza. You would need to make sugar cookie dough or buy it in a tube at the store.
- This is a great idea for kid’s parties.
