Matty Matheson’s Homemade Biscuit Recipe

Yum

Impress the crowd (or family) with fluffy, homemade biscuits.

I’ll admit… this is one of the first times i’ve made homemade biscuits. I’m still trying to learn the process so you’ll see there are imperfections. They were so good though so i’ll take it.

We first discovered Matty Matheson on his Halloween Donuts episode. Imagine seeing this tattooed guy with no shirt wearing a leather harness cooking donuts. That is Matty.

He is loud and cusses a lot but makes his cooking videos fun… and way different. The thing I love most is that my husband will sit and watch them with me. He’s the one that usually tells me we have a new video to watch.

Matty used to be found on the Vice channel but now he has his own show on YouTube. It’s called Just a Dash.

Since I made these biscuits, my husband has requested them over and over. Each time I get a little better at making them.

The biggest thing with biscuits is keeping the butter cold. I put it in the freezer for a few minutes before i’m going to start working with it. I also put the dough mixture in the refrigerator for a few minutes after I added in the butter to make sure it stays cold.

The other thing i’ve learned is it’s super hard to get totally even biscuits. I always end up with some a little thinner than the others.

In this recipe, you will find that making the biscuits are fairly simple. You get the layers by rolling out the biscuit dough and then folding it over a few times before rolling it out again.

Make sure to top these biscuits with my homemade sausage gravy. I made gravy for my husband and I topped mine with strawberry jam.
