I wasn’t really familiar with Naan but I saw it in the store one day and decided to try it. It is so versatile in what you can make with it.
They have the bigger pieces like those that are pictured to the left. You can usually find original, garlic, or whole grain. They also have mini and dipper sized naan at select stores, but I believe they only come in the original flavor so far.
The bigger sized pieces are perfect for pizza and will serve around 3-5 people. There are two pieces in a package.
The mini naan is great for sandwiches and mini pizzas. The dippers are great to dip in hummus.
Fun Fact: Naan is Persian and means bread. When you are talking about naan, don’t say “naan bread” or you’re literally saying “bread bread”.
We love buying the garlic naan and making these bbq chicken pizzas. You can make any type of pizza you’d like, though.
Some great combinations are: Chicken Pesto Artichoke, Margherita, Spinach and Goat Cheese, Chicken Bacon Ranch, Sausage, Spinach & Mushroom, Cheeseburger, BBQ Hawaiian, Roasted Garlic Chicken and White Sauce, Pepperoni, Veggie… the possibilities are endless.
For the bbq chicken flatbread pizza, I brush bbq sauce on the naan. Spread diced pieces of chicken tossed in more bbq sauce on the pizza. Cover with shredded mozzarella cheese and bake until the cheese is melted.
The whole thing should be done in 20 minutes or less.
Here’s the best part… you won’t need a whole pound of chicken for this recipe. Only about 1/4 or 1/2 pound is needed. I usually save the leftover for topping a salad, making a chicken sandwich, etc.
BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza
BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza done in under 20 minutes. Perfect for the whole family.
- 1 pkg naan
- 1 cup bbq sauce
- 1/4-1/2 lb chicken tenders or breast
- 2 cups mozzarella cheese
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Heat a skillet over medium heat with 1 tbsp olive oil. Cook chicken pieces until cooked through. About 6 minutes per side for chicken breasts and less for tenders or thin slices of chicken.
Dice the chicken into small pieces. You can also shred the chicken if you prefer. Toss in 1/2 cup of the bbq sauce.
Place the two pieces of naan on a baking sheet. Brush the remaining bbq sauce on each piece, covering to the edges. If you'd like light sauce, use less. If you'd like more sauce, feel free to use more.
Spread the diced chicken on the naan. Cover with 1 cup of mozzarella cheese on each piece of naan.
Bake just a few minutes until the cheese is melted. Slice or serve in whole pieces.
